Announcing The Jewish Eye 5784/2024 Calendar of Art

I'm pleased to announce the publication of my new calendar The Jewish Eye 5784/2024 Calendar of Art. Now in its 9th year, the calendar features 13 paintings inspired by Jewish holidays, traditions, and history, ranging from Israel to the Diaspora, from the ancient past to the present. As always, there are conceptual images as well as landscapes and still lifes; paintings inspired by Torah (the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament), and paintings with universally human themes. The caption for each image fleshes out its meaning and context, making this an educational collection. The grids show both the Gregorian and Hebrew calendars, with weekly Torah portions and holidays in Hebrew and English. The calendar is 11"x17" when open.
You can view the entire calendar here.
The Jewish Eye is available in my webstore ($20 with shipping included) or on Amazon ($16.95). If you want to purchase this calendar, please consider buying it directly from me, as Amazon takes a substantial cut.
This is a great way to support my work as an artist and writer. If you've been reading this newsletter for a long time, please consider that I do not get paid for this work. I'm fortunate to earn part of my living as a professional artist, but art is not a necessity in our society, commissions are sporadic, and illustrators are generally underpaid for their work, no matter how seasoned or talented. And not surprisingly, the cost of printing the calendar goes up every year.
My advertising budget is limited to one ad, so I'm counting on my readers and buyers to spread the word! Please share widely.
My sales on Amazon depend on positive reviews, as this is what pushes the calendar onto the first page when people search for "Jewish calendar." If you are willing to write a review as a "verified buyer," I will send a free calendar to you or the recipient of your choice. This entails ordering the calendar from Amazon, waiting til it arrives, and then posting a review. Even a few sentences would be helpful!
The Jewish New Year falls on September 16th this year. Between now and then I will be featuring one painting each week from the calendar in this newsletter, and sharing the story behind it.
You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy The Jewish Eye! Each year, I sell many calendars to Christian readers and art lovers who want a changing selection of images on their wall. Most folks don't use it as a date planner, but there is space to write on the grids if you want.
Thank you for your continuing interest in my art and writing!
b'ahava (with love),
Yael Bernhard
